About Me

You are the focus in our therapy relationship, but maybe you want to know more about me. This is the part where most therapists tell you about their license and education and training. I do have those credentials, and I’ve been working with people seeking mental health and addiction recovery for over 20 years. What makes me different than other therapists?

I’m a real person and I understand your real struggle.

Have you experienced situations with healthcare professionals where you felt like you were talking to a robot or someone reading from a script? I have too, and I show up with authenticity every day so that no one ever feels that way in my office.

I am a recovering addict, and in the past I have struggled with depression and thoughts that everything is meaningless. I’ve also experienced significant anxiety and lack of confidence. I have dealt with uncertainty and shame. In 2008, I made the decision to get sober and reached out for help – I was where you are today, thinking about my problem and wondering what I should do next. That’s why I’m uniquely qualified to help you with these struggles. Not only because I have a degree and a license, but because I have been there and I know what really works for real people like you and me. Sessions with me are conversational, casual, informative, usually contain a little humor, and no b.s.

I believe everyone has a unique path.

What works for others may not work for you. I find serenity in nature and in physical activity. If you do too, I offer walk and talk therapy sessions. Maybe you will find peace in performing in a theater production, learning to play guitar, building a 3D replica of a Millenium Falcon, or painting a landscape. I won’t force you into a pre-made box. We will keep trying until you find your balance. I love to meditate, but maybe you would rather scream at the top of your lungs. We will work together to find your solution.
